Enjoyed the web site of Shemya. I was on Shemya in 1960 and 1961, working as a contract
technician with General Electric. I have signed the guestbook and subsequently received an e-mail
from another person who was there the same time that I was. In fact, he lives in the next town to
me here in Massachusetts! Small world, huh? These original photos were 3 1/2 by 4 1/2 but were in
pretty poor condition. Some were very low in contrast and pretty muddy so I did some very quick
diddling with them. There are only a few names that I do remember from my time there but that
was going on forty three years ago and I was only there a year. Of course, we had a "Boozer" at
that time, too. I had some pictures I took of the recovery from the bay of a huge, diesel electric
generator that was dropped overboard from the delivery barge. I was supposed to be one of the
divers on the job but ended up as the photographer. By the way, the fellow that was there at the
same time as I was--we plan to get together after the holidays and have coffee and talk over our
time on "The Rock."
